I’ve coined it Cat Escort, for now. It’ll get a proper title as it gets closer to being released.
Here’s a bit about the story:
After Seth gets out of a bad relationship, his friend suggests he see an escort, a sexy werecat named Nick. Seth never expects to see him again. Months later, he encounters Nick at a mutual friend’s New Years Eve party. He learns Nick’s real name is Nao, and the two become friends. The more Seth gets to know the man (werecat?) behind that flirty smile, the more he finds himself falling in love with Nao. But can Seth handle dating an escort?
Here’s an excerpt from the story. Enjoy!
Warning! This is a rough draft, so some mistakes might be there!
Seth and Nao walked through the busy parts of the city, talking. The city lights were starting to turn on as evening set.
Seth never realized how open Nao was about everything. Carefree, and enjoyed life.
They walked the streets. Both in their winter clothes. Seth loved that he could see the condensation of his breath in the air.
Nao shivered. “You look like you’re enjoying this chilly weather?”
Seth’s smile widened. “And you’re not?”
Nao shook his head. “We cats like a temperate climate, not too hot, or cold. The cattery would be nice and around this time.” Nao’s tangent off topic was too interesting for Seth to ignore. He also loved the spark of life that entered Nao’s eyes as he recalled the memory. “We also have awesome hot chocolate.”
“Didn’t think cats could eat chocolate.”
“We’re not that sensitive to it, thankfully. As with everything we need to moderate ourselves. But we include some wild grass for digestion and a touch of mouse meat for thickness.”
‘Meat? In hot chocolate?”
“Well, more like broth, but yeah, and it’s amazing!”
Seth wrinkled his nose. “I’ll take your word for it.”
Nao continued to shiver, stuffing his hands into his pockets. “You’d think I would get better clothes for the winter, guess I just hide indoors when this happens.”
Seth took a deep breath for courage, and then put his arm around Nao’s shoulders and pulled him close. Nao’s startled breath came out as condensation in the air. Looking over, he smiled and nuzzled into Seth’s neck.
Seth jumped. “Cold! Your nose is freezing!”
“So warm it up,” Nao whispered against his skin. His breath was warm, but the condensation left Seth’s skin damp and he shivered. Wrapping both arms around Nao’s smaller frame, he tightened his hug. Nao hugged him back. They were standing in the middle of the street, well, they were in the street anyway. Seth had navigated them closer to the street bench.
Nao’s teeth were clattering.
“Wanna find a place indoors?” Seth suggested.
Nao nodded. “Although,” he purred. It was the most adorable thing Seth had heard in his life. “I’m enjoying this. You holding me.”
Seth swallowed. He wanted to hear Nao purr again. He wanted more than that sound. He loved that whimper-pant of surrender Nao had made right before Seth had entered him. How had they not had sex since then? But then again, they weren’t technically dating. And what did that mean anyway? Nao would still be an escort. How in the world would Seth be able to handle that?
“You should come with me.”
“To the cattery, to visit my family.”
“Um…I mean… don’t you think it’s early?”
“Early? We’re just friends. Nothing’s too early in a friendship.”
Now that hurt. Seth knew that it shouldn’t have. Nao was being practical. There was no way Seth could date an escort. He just couldn’t. And then what? He’d forever pester Nao to quit his job? Still, hearing Nao say it like that made it sound final. Like there was no way he would ever get to call Nao his partner.
‘Well, I mean. I guess.”
“It’s the winter solstice. That’s a holiday we celebrate in my family. And since you didn’t get to spend Christmas with anyone, would you want to come home with me, and spend some time there?”
“Um. I probably shouldn’t. I mean, am I even welcomed there?”
“Not by everyone, I’m sure. But lots of my parents and aunts and uncles would be okay with it. You being just my friend here helps a lot with that.”
“What if I don’t just wanna be your friend.” Seth had no idea where those bold words came from, but the topic had been reverberating in his head, and it slipped out.
Nao studied him, a small smile graced his handsome face. Going over he kissed Seth softly. It was merely a gentle press of his skin against Seth’s. And it ended just as quickly.
“I don’t think you’d really want that. I am an escort, Seth. And that isn’t something you want for your boyfriend to be.”
“No buts. I won’t quit. This is my job, and I like it. And it’s the only thing that keeps me able to stay in the human world. I hate to say it, but I’m not good at anything else.”
“Now that I can’t believe.”
“Believe it or not, I can’t do anything else. I don’t even know how to read or write human.”
Seth smirked at that. “You mean English?”
Nao smiled. “It’s all the same to me.”
“You can speak it fine.”
“I have an accent.”
“So? You can do it. That means you can learn to read and write it.”
Nao shook his head. “See, this is why we can’t get together. I really like you, think I love you even, and I don’t want to put you in a position where you will be unhappy.”
Seth let out a sigh. “Yeah, probably… but that doesn’t change the fact that I want to be with you.”
Nao leaned forward and kissed him again. This time Seth grabbed his shoulders, preventing him from leaving. After all those memories that plagued him, kissing Nao back felt amazing.
“Nao,” he moaned. “I want you.”
Nao flicked his tongue against his, then sucked Seth’s into his mouth before they were warring for dominance.
Suddenly a car sped right by them. Nao was closest to the side of the road. The car’s back wheels flung mud all over his clothes.
“What the hell?” Nao turned to the road, fuming. It had gotten him more than a little muddy. The entire back side of Nao’s pants were wet, all the way up to his middle back.
“Shit!” Seth went to take off his coat to give it to Nao, but he held up his hand.
“Pretty much ruined at this point.” Nao dragged out a frustrated, tired sigh. “Not like I could ever hope to get all of this stain off. Looks like I’ll have to try for plan two.”
“Plan two? But, Nao you’re freezing as it is, you’re gonna catch your death out here.”
“Do you mind?”
Nao was gone, not answering the question. Going over to a homeless man, he said. “Would you be interested in taking these clothes off my hands?”
The man looked confused.
“Give it to this fine fellow, will you Seth?” Nao looked back at Seth, going straight over, and handed his purse to Seth. “Will you keep me in your jacket?”
Seth only recognized what Nao planned to do when he started transforming. Then a black cat was at his feet. He rubbed around Seth’s legs and Seth got the message. Giving the clothes to the stranger, he picked up Nao and put him inside his jacket so that Nao’s head could peek out.
